Pitta

White sauce with a garlic base. Ideal with kebabs, shoarma and gyros. 

Mix this sauce with kebab meat and fresh lettuce. Put everything in a pita bread and you’ve got a real kebab roll, just like from the kebab shop.

Baking bread without an oven

Pita is a kind of flat bread thought to have been invented by the Bedouins (4,000 years ago), who baked their bread while preparing the evening meal. The kneaded flour and water into small balls and baked the bread in an open fire. The flat bread is one of the oldest kinds of bread because you don't need an oven or even a pan to bake it.
